DescriptionA tripod, one foot being longer than the other two, supports a heavy vice and an electromagnet (which operates on 2.5 to 4 volts and draws about 1 amp.). The vice holds a tuning fork, and between its tines is the electromagnet, which can move up and down the vertical rod. The vice's height can also be adjusted. Shorter rods are fixed on the vice so the tuning fork can be positioned horizontally.
One of the fork's tines has a stylus for recording the fork's vibrations when used as a time reference. The tines also have provision for mounting mirrors for the production of Lissajous figures. "S2" has been painted on the tripod.
