DescriptionA temperature sensor and recorder, typical of those used at Blue Hill Observatory (and possibly actually used there). The instrument is housed in a black case and rests on a four-footed metal stand, to which a windup key is attached with a plastic cinch tie. The front of the case has an access door with a circular viewing window, through which the instrument may be seen.

Inside the case, a quarter-circular dial with an orange pointer is marked in increments in a range from 30 to 120 degrees F. "FOXBORO / RECORDER" is inscribed at the top of the inside panel. Under the instrument dial, and partially obscured by it, is an information panel. Centered below the dial is a protruding spindle or rod. Near the bottom of the panel, another metal plate is marked, "TEMPERATURE DATA," with spaces for instrument specifications.

The instrument has a five foot metal cable attached to a temperature probe.

            Range -30 to 120 degrees F.
