DescriptionThis is a Spencer compound laboratory microscope. It has a blackened horseshoe shaped base of cast iron, a monocular body tube with a draw tube that is graduated in millimeters. The arm has the handle built in. There is a revolving triple nosepiece. The coarse adjustment is by rack and pinion. The fine focus is by a graduated knob on top of the post that works on an internal lever. Both the fine and coarse adjustment knobs are red brass as is a strip on the arm.
There is a square stage with nickel stage clips. Beneath the stage is an Abbe condenser with iris diaphragm and ring for filters. It is moved up and down by means of a large vertical screw on the proper left. The mirror is on a swinging arm.
This instrument is accompanied by a standing wooden case with a key.
