Material
DescriptionA long, rectangular wooden plank which serves as a base supports a pair of turned wood stands with circular center openings. Around the base of each stand small brown cylinders with hooks at the end; there are three such cylinders around the base of one and two around the base of the other. Markings on the plank seem to indicate that there were originally four cylinders around each base.
Signedinscribed on brass plaque: Queen & Co. Philada.
FunctionThis stand probably supported a pair of discharge tubes. The cylinders with metal hooks at the end were used for tying up the tube's electrodes, which many times were simple, thin, bare metal wires.
