Bibliography
DescriptionThis is a Bausch & Lomb No. 520 educational compound microscope. It has a three-foot base made out of cast iron. The arm is also cast iron while the body tube and pillars are brass. There is a rack and pinion coarse focus adjustment; the fine focus is a screw located near the stage.
The stage is made out of hard rubber. A revolving wheel diaphragm and a concave mirror are located below the stage.
According to the early note card, this microscope is a slightly modified version of CHSI 1096. The basic design is the same but all parts are a fraction of an inch larger.
This microscope is accompanied by a standing wooden case. Additional accessories include a green leather box holding two objectives, two oculars (one which doesn't fit), and a box of cover slides.
