DescriptionThis is a Tighe small compound monocular microscope. The brass instrument has a horseshoe-shaped base filled with lead. The round pillar rises to the inclining joint, where it meets a a C-shaped arm topped with a cylindrical post. The post joins with the body tube by rack and pinion. The ocular draw tube is nickel-plated. A revolving three-objective nosepiece is attached. Coarse focus is by rack and pinion. The fine adjustment is a screw located underneath the post.

The microscope is equipped with a circular stage with two nickel stage clips. The substage apparatus includes a condenser with an iris diaphragm. The concave mirror is mounted to a swinging arm attached to the lower part of the C-shaped arm.

The instrument comes with a standing dovetailed wooden case with a small brass handle on top. A printed card thumbtacked inside the case door details the proper care of the microscope.

There is one eyepiece. The box for 3 objectives is empty. It is made of wood covered in black leather and lined in purple silk and velvet.
