Bibliography
DescriptionThis is a Leitz microscope camera that can be attached to a standard microscope without resorting to the use of adaptors. The camera slides into the tube in place of the eyepiece. This is the Makam model, the larger of two sold by Leitz.
The camera takes a plate size of 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. The magnification of the camera is identical to that of visual observation, and marked on the instrument as 1X.
The camera is equipped with a side telescope before the extension tube. This permits the user to observe the object while taking photographs. The telescope of the viewfinder has a reticle which is conjugate to the film plane and a diopter adjustment to focus exactly on the reticle.
The reflex viewfinder flips aside when the shutter opens in order to use all the light for the photo.
Other standard accessories include a "Periplan" 8x ocular; a ground glass screen; two plate holders; and two release cables. The case is made of wood, lined in black paper and covered in red buckram.
In addition, there is a Bausch & Lomb loupe magnifier and a spare ocular in tahe box.
