DescriptionA large glass lens is mounted at one end of unpolished brass cylinder. A smaller lens is at the other end at the opening in a flat plate. The plate has knurled edges. A hollow cylinder is attached to the center. Its inner diameter is 2.9 cm (1.14 inches), and would accept eyepieces of that dimension.

Curatorial RemarksThe inner diameter of this comet eyepiece would take oculars of 2.9 cm O.D., which would be those by Alvan Clark. This suggests that the comet eyepiece was by the Clark firm.
