      Material
DescriptionA pin-type insulator of brown bakelite or resin. The insulator has a flat top and long, octagonal shaft. At the base, two cable ridges enclose a cable groove. An inscription (not clearly visible) runs along the bottom of the groove. The base opens into a flared skirt.

The insulator appears to be painted brown, with the paint or coating worn away in many areas. A large portion of the tip of the insulator has been cut or sheared off at an angle.
        Signedunsigned
Inscribedengraved in the insulator's groove, hard to read: Good
Curatorial RemarksLooks a bit like 2007-1-0153. Engraved in the insulator's groove, though hard to read, is the marking "Good", which may refer to the Robert Good/ Valverde Glass Works (aka Robert Good,Jr.; Colorado Glass Works; Denver Flint Glass Company) of Denver, CO (1896-1899). Information on this may be found at the collectors' site: http://www.myinsulators.com/glass-factories/
FunctionInsulators like this one are used to suspend bare wires that transmit electricity at very high voltages. They are made of materials that do not conduct electricity even at extreme voltages.
