Curatorial RemarksCharrette and Lionel Spiro looked for a good supply of lichen for architectural models. After research on Martha's Vineyard lichen (with the help of an environmental specialist) found that it was a source of food for local deer, Spiro found that Alaska pipeline production would remove massive amounts of lichen and bought from this source instead.
FunctionThis lichen could be used in landscape architectural models to represent greenery.
ProvenanceLionel Spiro, Brookline, MA; Gift to CHSI, 2014.
