DescriptionThe drafting set is stored in a black, folding leather case. The case consists of five panels, all lined with dark navy felt on the inside. The center panel is contoured to fit all the instruments and hold them in place when the case is closed. To close the case the two side panels fold in first and the top panel folds onto the bottom panel and can be secured with a single snap.
The set consists of six instruments. One rule pen with black plastic handle and steel points. One steel lengthening bar attachment. One large steel compass with lead attachment. One large steel divider. Two smaller compasses, one with lead attachment and one with rule pen.

FunctionThe set of drawing instruments is equipped for drawing and dividing lines, circles, and curves of various kinds. A set of this kind would be useful to draftsmen, architects, navigators, cartographers, engineers, mathematicians, and even artists. The rule pens permit the user to draw consistent inked lines of adjustable thickness. The compasses permit the drawing of circles and arc sections. The lengthening bar can be attached, by loosening and tightening a screw holder at one end, to various instruments to elongate them. Dividers are used to translate proportionate figures.
