DescriptionA large spherical vacuum tube with a concave cathode and a heavy target with a focusing ring in front. Cathode and target are on same axis. There is an additional anode at a 45 degree angle behind the target, and a side tube with an asbestos regenerator.

FunctionThis is an early x-ray tube that needed a little gas inside to work properly. It consists of a concave cathode where electrons are produced and accelerated towards the target. The concave shape, and the ring in front of the target help focus the electrons on the target, where x-rays are produced. There is a second anode behind the target that was supposed to improve the performance of these early tubes. To restore the optimal gas levels there is a side tube with asbestos that releases some gas when heated.
