BiographyUnicam Instruments Ltd. was founded by S.W.J. Stubbens in the 1930s.. The company manufactured scientific instruments in fields such as crystallography and spectroscopy, and during the War also manufactured parts for warplanes.

Around 1967, Unicam took part in a complex merger, in which the company, together with Pye Industries, were acquired by the Philips corporation. A subsidiary of Phillips called Pye Unicam was formed to encompass Unicam and the scientific instrument division at Pye. This brand kept a market presence as late as the 1980s.
