Peter Airth Feathers was a Scottish nautical instrument maker, watchmaker and chronometer maker. He was born in Dundee in 1821, the son of a ship-owner and coal merchant. He apprenticed as a watchmaker in Dundee and worked elsewhere as a journeyman.
In 1840 he opened his own establishment in Dundee as a nautical instrument maker and soon after advertised his services also as a watchmaker and chronometer maker.
In 1874, his son joined him in the business and the firm was renamed P. A. Feathers & Son. It advertised optical instruments as well as chronometers.
He died in 1904 at the age of 84. His son, James, ran the business of P. A. Feathers & Son until his retirement in 1910.
