BiographyMazda was a British company .... and in the 1920′s Ediswan and Mazda were major makers of radio tubes.
Ediswan being the world’s first radio tube maker (A joint efort started in 1883 by Edison Eletric Light Co and Swan Electric Lighting Co.).
Many of Mazda’s later tubes were made in French factories.

Mazda is a brand name of British Thomson-Houston Co. Ltd.

British Thomson-Houston (BTH) was a British engineering and heavy industrial company, based at Rugby, Warwickshire, England and founded as a subsidiary of the General Electric Company (GE) of Schenectady, New York USA. They were known primarily for their electrical systems and steam turbines.

1911: BTH got licenses for all of General Electric's drawn-wire light bulbs, which they produced under the Mazda trademark.

Mazda was a trademarked name registered by General Electric in 1909 for incandescent light bulbs. The name was used from 1909 through 1945 in the United States by GE and Westinghouse. Mazda brand light bulbs were made for decades after 1945 outside the USA. The company chose the name due to its association with Ahura Mazda, the transcendental and universal God of Zoroastrianism whose name means light of wisdom (Ahura = light, Mazda = wisdom) in the Avestan language
