Juan E. Muñiz

fl. 1896 - 1923
BiographyJuan E. Muñiz was a member of the scientific staff of the Harvard College Observatory at Boyden Station, the observatory's observing station in Arequipa, Peru. In 1897, he worked under the leadership of Solon I. Bailey, who was in charge of the observing station, and continued on at the Boyden Station after Bailey returned to Cambridge in 1898. He designed and constructed various meteorological instruments, including an anemometer in 1900, and made meteorological observations. He repaired a silver disk pyrheliometer which the Smithsonian Institution lent to the Harvard observing station in Arequipa, Peru in 1912. A report from 1923 still lists him on the staff.

When mentioned in reports of the Boyden Station, he is typically called "Señor J. E. Muniz" or "Señor Muniz" or "Sr. Muniz" with a tilda on the "n" in "Señor" but not on his the "n" in his last name.
