William Pethercirca 1738-1821

William Pether was an English engraver and painter who specialized in landscapes, especially ones that involved experiments with light. For this reason, he was known as a painter of moonlight. He engraved over fifty plates, after both the Old Masters and contemporary artists, including Joseph Wright of Derby.
