Staedtler
Staedtler Company was founded by J. S. Staedtler in 1835 in Nuremberg, Germany. J.S. Staedtler was inspired by his ancestor's, Friedrich Staedtler, who was a pencil crafter in Germany back in 1662. The Staedtler Company produced about 60 different kinds of pencils in 1840. During the beginning of the 20th century, the company moved to the United States and started producing fountain pens as well as ballpoint pens in the late 1940s.
Today, Staedtler Company possesses factories in Asia but 80% of the company's production is still manufactured in Germany. Staedtler is present in 150 countries and remains the leading European manufacturer of wood-cased, erasers, lead pencils, and modelling clay. The brands Mars, Noris, Lumocolor, and Triplus belong to the company.
