Hugh Powell1799 - 1883
Hugh Powell was an English optician and optical, mathematical, and philosophical instrument maker, best known for his microscopes. He was a founder of the Microscopical Society of London in 1840. In 1841 he and his brother-in-law, Peter H. Lealand, formed the partnership of Powell & Lealand, which flourished from 1841 until 1911.
