FunctionThe Intel D8088 is an early central microprocessor. Microprocessors are an integrated circuit designed to perform all necessary operations of a central processing unit (CPU). This particular microprocessor was used in the original IBM Personal Computer. It has a clock speed of 1 or 2 MHZ. The D8088 was an early predecessor to the modern Intel Pentium Processor.

A comprehensive discussion of the Intel D8088 is available here.
