DescriptionA vertical rod is fixed to a round base made of iron. On that rod, secured with a tightening screw, the support for the gas lamp (missing) is attached, along with a clock mechanism. The latter is found in the rectangular box. The crank is missing. The mechanism puts in motion a vertical rod linked to a rotating holder (for a prism or other optical device). The gas lamp, once in place, was illuminating this rotating optical device. The gas was provided by the two tubes, marked "H" and "O". The whole lamp stand is adjustable in height.
