DescriptionA circular dial plate bearing a magnetic compass, two spirit levels, a canon and a magnifying glass is supported by a short tripod with three leveling screws. There are two chapter rings, one for a latitude of 40° and the other for 50°, each marked 6 to 12 to 1 to 6 with 15 minute subdivisions. The gnomon can be set for any latitude from 40° to 50° with a bird pointer to a scale subdivided in 1° increments. The magnifying lens is mounted above a touch hole on the canon and is adjusted for the declination of the sun with a scale divided into months.,circular plate on short tripod.

Curatorial RemarksAppraisal by Brieux, 9/24/84: $1,000. The DW number is redundent and does not match the data cards. Brieux notes that this is an old set of numbers, since discontinued and list destroyed by Barbara Carson 1975 when she made the sundial list.
FunctionTime finding and noon mark by canon fire at any latitude between 40° and 50° after orienting the gnomon to point toward true North.
