DescriptionSilver octagonal dial plate with compass at one end. Three hour scales for latitudes 40, 45, and 50 degrees are numbered in Arabic, Arabic and Roman numbers. There are no quarter hour markings on inner two chapter rings. Bird gnomon for latitudes 35 to 55.
Wind rose with fleur-de-lys pointing North. "NORT, EST, SVD, OVEST" mark cardinal points. Seventy-two divisions are provided.
The reverse side of the dial plate is engraved with the names and latitudes (in degrees) of 18 European towns. The reverse side of the compass bowl has a decorative pattern.
Octagonal shagreen case lined with orange cloth. Indentations for foot and compass. worn places from gnomon. With hinge and button clasp.
