DescriptionStandard brass box sextant with case and telescopic sight. There is a mirror on the arm with a silver scale that had a 2" radius and measures -5 to 120 degrees.
It comes with a magnifier and a small telescope. The telescope does not appear to fit instrument.
The case is leather-covered, silk- and velvet-lined.

Curatorial RemarksIn business at 56 Strand between 1850 and 1853. Succeeded by Elliott Bros. See Wheatland card. This instrument came from Willian Bond's estate. Wheatland purchased it in June 1957 from Roland Hammond for $150.
