          DescriptionTripod with three wooden legs. The point of each leg is metal-reinforced; at the opposite end is a brass hinge, which attaches to a circular brass piece whose top portion is threaded. When closed, the tripod is bound by a webbed strap originating at a brass loop attached to one hinge. The strap passes under a brass plate bolted to the same leg, then curls to form a loop at the opposite end, through which the ends of all three legs may be inserted.

          The tripod is not original to the Y level it accompanies, 5240a. See the mahogany block beneath the Y level's foot plate. See also the engraving on the inside of the Y level's case.
