DescriptionThis is a Bausch & Lomb mechanical feed arc lamp, model 31-33-81.

The mechanical feed arc lamp runs on clockwork. The condenser is focused by rack and pinion. There is an adjustable iris diaphragm and a holder for the removable, heat-absorbing, Pyrex, water chamber. V-shaped pockets are provided to hold neutral density filters (missing).

The apparatus is operable with DC or AC, using a rheostat (i.e. ballast resistor) [item 2002-1-0034b] and differently-cored carbons [2002-1-0034c].

          The stand is missing.
