DescriptionThis is a cuff type microscope designed by the French instrument maker, Jean Baptiste François Soleil. The microscope sits on a mahogany wooden base. There are two curved pillars on the front side, and a longer pillar in the back. The latter holds the substage mirror on the lower end and the body tube on the opposite end. There is rack and pinion for the coarse adjustment and a vertical screw for the fine adjustment.
The stage is secured to all three pillars and has hole in the center.
