DescriptionThis generator consists of a horse-shoe permanent magnet fixed on a cast iron base. Within the magnet's field are two coils wound on iron cores, set at a 90-degree angle. The coils are mounted on a horizontal shaft, each coil being linked to collecting rings and collector springs. The wheel turning the shaft has a handle so it can be rotated by hand. The wheel though is grooved, to act as a pulley, so it can also be mechanically turned by a motor.

FunctionThis device was used to generate AC current by a fluctuating magnetic field. Note that the total sum of AC current produced by this system is zero at all time.
