Descriptioncompass sundial with plummet
The horizontal dial is mounted over a magnetic compass in a circular case with a push-on lid. The gnomon for the dial, together with a plummet, is pivoted to rotate into the plane of the dial for storage. The chapter ring is marked IIII-XII-I-VIII with 5 minute subdivisions. The gnomon is fixed for a latitude of approximately 53°. The compass rose is divided into 32 points with the 8 major points marked N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, and NW and no subdivisions. There is no magnetic declination marking.,circular,This dial is made to a finer standard than is typical for this type.
