Material
DescriptionA blackened brass, horizontal arm with a split-circle opening for a lens (missing) is attached to a brass, vertical post. The post has a triangular cross section and rackwork on the back face. The post moves up and down in a brass pillar by means of rack and pinion. This provides the focusing mechanism.
The brass pillar supports a fixed, square stage of blackened brass. Two handrests of brass are attached by screws. These handrests are covered with leather. The left proper one is missing some of the leather and the remainder is held down with tape.
Beneath the stage is a mirror fork-mounted on a swing arm. The mirror is single-sided and plane. It's supporting structure is made of blackened brass.
The base is brass filled with lead. It is octagonal in shape with rounded corners.
