DescriptionThis is a Leitz simple dissecting microscope, model W.
It is has a cast-iron horse-shoe shaped base with rounded edges. It is painted glossy black. The post is cylindrical and bright brass. It carries an articulated arm. The arm has a ring mount for the lens. Focus is by rack and pinion.
The rectangular stage has a glass top. There is a blackened brass tray below the stage with a wheel diaphragm. The stage clips are nickel.
The mirror has one plane side and one side with a white disk. It is mounted on a swinging arm below the stage.
This instrument is accompanied by one lens (20x), two leather-covered handrests, and a white porcelain tray to slide underneath the glass stage and above the diaphragm plate.
A standing wooden case for storage accompanies this instrument. It has nickel-plated hardware, and is padded in places with dark burgundy velvet. The dovetailing on the case is angled.
