DescriptionThis instrument consists of two glass plates that can pivot independently from each other. Their position is determined by a micrometric screw equipped with a graduated circle divided in two quadrants of 0 to 90 degrees. A vernier provides precision readings to 4'. The instrument is fixed on a base, which can be mounted on a specially designed track.

Historical AttributesThis interferometer was used in the Optics Lab of Radcliffe College, which was situated in Byerly Hall. Many of the instruments in the Radcliffe laboratory were supplied in about 1940 by the Optics Lab of the Harvard University Physics Department, which was located in the Jefferson Physical Laboratory.
