DescriptionA tall wooden stand with two bases, one touching the floor and another about 4/5ths of the way to its uppermost part. In addition to the bases, the stand holds a tube that has two parts: a straight one made of glass that goes from the bottom platform upwards, and a curved brass one that changes the direction of the tube downwards to end directly atop the higher platform. A glass flask that stood on this platform would have been connected to the tube here. The latter, broken, is now stored separately as 1996-1-0392b.

FunctionPresumably the flask and tube were designed to be used at low pressures and would have been connected to a vacuum pump for many possible experiments.
