Bibliography
DescriptionThis is a Leitz vertical illuminator that accompanies the Leitz petrographic microscope [1999-1-0020a]. The attachment is designed to fit between the tube and objective of the microscope to provide split-field or beam splitter illumination.
The vertical illuminator has an objective clutch for changing objectives with adaptor collars. Three objectives are included: 1; P 14mm / 3b; and 6a.
The reflecting prism and mirror are mounted on a bar that slides inside the housing. The port for the light source has a condensing lens and iris diaphragm.
This instrument is accompanied by a fitted wooden case lined in red silk and dark burgundy velvet. It holds the three objectives on brackets; 5 watch-key wrenches for adjusting the setting screws on the objectives; a nicol prism polarizer; and beam-splitting glasses wrapped in paper.
