          DescriptionThis is a dual revolving nosepiece for Nachet et Fils medium-sized "new model inclining" microscope [no. 1990-2-0012a]. The nosepiece has an adapter from society threads to mate with the microscope tube. The objectives have 11.4 mm threads. They are no. 2 and no. 7 immersion.
          ProvenanceWilliam G. Farlow, Assistant Professor of Botany in the Bussey Institution, Jamaica Plains, and then Professor of Cryptogamic Botany at Harvard; Farlow Herbarium, Harvard University; transferred to CHSI April 7, 1990.
          Historical AttributesBoth microscope [no. 1990-2-0012a] and nosepiece belonged to William G. Farlow, who was Assistant Professor of Botany (1874-1879) in the Bussey Institution, Jamaica Plains, MA. In 1879, Farlow was appointed Professor of Cryptogamic Botany at Harvard. He remained in this position until 1919, when he died.
