DescriptionBlue box covered with leatherette and lined with amber velvet. It is fitted to hold microscope slides. Three slides are in the box and are glued to larger modern glass slides as protectors. Cardboard inserts separate the slides.

ProvenanceWilliam G. Farlow, Assistant Professor of Botany in the Bussey Institution, Jamaica Plains, and then Professor of Cryptogamic Botany at Harvard; Farlow Herbarium, Harvard University; transferred to CHSI April 7, 1990.
Historical AttributesThese slides came with microscope belonging to William G. Farlow (inv. 1990-2-12a). The slide of Cucurbita was the first slide made by Farlow at Strasbourg in 1872; that of Peronospora infestans was made by Anton de Bary in 1872; and that of Pilostyles haussknechtii was made by Count Solms.
The slides were kept by Farlow as mementos.
