DescriptionThis is a chromolithograph depicting the movement of mechanical belts by E. Wormser, published by Librarie de l'Hachette under the direction of Arthur Jules Morin. Morin, a professor of mechanics at Metz and director of the Conservatoire des Arts & Métiers at Paris, designed these prints to teach the general public about mechanical engineering, as witnessed by the simplicity of the design and clarity of the labels. This print comes from the print series entitled 'Grands dessins colories pour l'enseignement de la mecanique / composes sous la direction de M. le General Morin ... et par les soins de M Tresca', by Arthur Jules Morin (1795-1880), published in Paris in 1856. This was the tenth print in a series of 30 plates sold together in a portfolio, which could also be bought either as a series or separately.
