DescriptionRectangular boxwood rule with three slides. The top and bottom slides are fixed; the center slide, which is printed on both sides, moves to left and right.
Printed along the bottom edge of the top, fixed slide is a scale composed of two logarithmic scales (values 1 to 10) placed side by side. Printed along the top edge of the bottom, fixed slide is a logarithmic scale carrying values 1 to 10.
Three scales are printed on the face of the moveable slide. Along its top edge is a scale carrying values from 0.5 to 80. Along the center of the slide is a scale with values ranging from 0.5 to 45. Printed along the bottom edge of the slide is a scale with values descending from 1000 to 0.
Three scales are likewise printed on the back of the moveable slide. Along its top edge is a scale identical to that printed on the top fixed slide. Printed below this is a scale composed of two inverted logarithmic scales (values descending from 10 to 1) printed side by side. The scale along the bottom edge of the slide is identical to that printed on the bottom, fixed slide.
The slide rule is stored in wood case with brass hinges and clasp. Pasted to the inside of the box's lid and bottom are tables of measurements, coinage, conversion, etc. (in French).
