DescriptionTM Type. This is a standard early amplifier vacuum tube. It has four pins to connect to each element (two for cathode). The cathode is a thin metallic wire that would be heated during operation. It is surrounded by a solenoid wire which is the grid, and then my a rolled metallic plate which constitutes the anode. The pin base is made of wood.
Signedunsigned
FunctionThis is a very standard triode made around the period of the war. As in other triodes, electrons are produced at the cathode and are accelerated towards the anode if they are connected to different voltages. This creates a steady current. The mesh that stands between cathode and anode, if connected to a voltage more negative than the cathode, hinders the circulation of some of the current, so if one connects the grid to a weak signal, the signal will be reproduced in the main current. It will be amplified.
