DescriptionThis is an Accutron wristwatch by Bulova, series 214, circa 1970.
The bezel is 10K gold filled. The dial has a matte golden ivory finish with raised, gilt Roman numerals for the hours I-XII. Minutes are marked with hatch marks every 1. The hour and minute hands are gilt, simple pointers. The gilt sweep-second hand is terminated by the Accutron tuning fork logo. The face of the dial is signed "ACCUTRON" and has the tuning fork logo.
The back of the case has a setting crown with a folding handle. It also has the compartment for the cell battery. The back of the case is stainless steel and water resistant.
The watchband is black leather and made by Speidel.
The watch is attached to the owner's guide and registration. The registration shows that the watch was purchased on 12/25/70 at Hingham Jewelers, 54 South Street, Hingham, Massachusetts.

Historical AttributesThe Accutron timepiece was the first personal watch that had a vibrating tuning fork as the timekeeping element. The tuning fork was driven by a button power cell through an electronic circuit. Accutron timepieces were first introduced in 1960. This watch was made in 1969 or 1970.
