          DescriptionAn instrument that consists of a long wood case with two separate glass tubes mounted inside, one of which making a U-turn near the bottom. The first tube is a thermometer with an inverted scale going from -4 to 119°C with its bulb at the top. The second tube is a barometer that is filled with a red liquid and some mercury that makes a U-turn to end in a reservoir filled with a charcoal-like substance stoppered at its top with a cork and cloth. The barometer has an additional sliding scale for conversion to Fathoms.

          FunctionA relatively portable set of thermometer and barometer. Its use is relatively straightforward as one simply takes the reading both for temperature and pressure at the levels reached by the liquids on both tubes.
