Specifically, to make actual movement vs. apparent movement experiments. There are two interchangeable brass plates, marked "1-2" and "3-4," which can be used in different experiments (each side of these plates have different rectangular openings). There is one other brass plate, the top one, that is attached to a spring. It is held in place by small holes punched on one side of the plate, a simple key releasing the plate to start the experiment.
