          DescriptionA calculational slide chart consisting of four cards as following:

          1) A long rectangular card titled "Oxidation" with a long table of chemical reactions, to the right of which are values (sometimes in red, sometimes in black) under columns headed log k_o and E_o.

          2) A long rectangular card titled "Reduction" with a long table of chemical reactions, to the leftof which are values (sometimes in red, sometimes in black) under columns headed E_r and log k_r.

          3) A smaller card (alignment card) that is wider that #1 and #2 placed alongside, with a long horizontal slit along its center. Directly above the slit are headers for log K_o, E_o, E_r and Log K_r, and below it are general formulas for oxidation - reduction reactions.

          4) An instructions card.

          Signedon back of envelope: STOCK No. 40752 / CHEMICAL PREDICTOR / EDMUND SCIENTIFIC CO. BARRINGTON, NEW JERSEY, 08007; on top of alignment card: EDMUND S.N. [stock number] 40,752 / Chemical Predictor; on top of oxidation and reduction cards: Edmund Chemical Predictor; on bottom of oxidation and reduction cards: EDMUND SCIENTIFIC CO. BARRINGTON, NEW JERSEY 08007;
          Inscribedon envelope in pencil: May 1971; on bottom of alignment card: Black Numbers - Positive / (in red) Red Numbers - Negative EDMUND SCIENTIFIC CO.; bottom of instruction card: PUNCH OUT AND USE TO ALIGN CARDS 602533-1
          FunctionThese cards are used to determine whether an oxidation-reduction reaction will occur spontaneously, and the equilibrium constant of the reaction.

          One of the long cards contains a list of oxidation reactions. The other card contains a list of reduction reactions. On the right of the oxidation card, and on the left of the reduction card, are values for the energy produced (or absorbed) by the reaction, as well as values for the logarithm of the equilibrium constant of the reaction.

          To determine the parameters of an oxidation-reduction reaction, the user aligns the oxidation reaction on one card with the reduction reaction on the other so that they are both visible behind the slit on the alignment card.

          If the sum of E_o and E_r is positive, the reaction will occur.

          The logarithm of the equilibrium constant of the combined reaction will be the sum of log K_o and log K_r.
