DescriptionThis Fuller integrator is stored in a dark brown rectangular box. There are two metal hooks attached to the front of the bottom half of the box that each hook on to a screw in the top half. There is an off-white card centered on the top of the box that reads "EDWIN FULLER / INDUSTRIAL INSTRUMENTS".
The integrator consists of two parts: a long, rectangular, steel track and a steel readout wheel mechanism that slides along it in a straight line. The track lies flat on the surface beneath. There is a rounded bar attached the whole length of one of the track's long sides; the readout wheel mechanism slides along the bar.
The readout wheel mechanism consists of several parts. The base plate is a flat steel plate attached to the bar running along the track. It is shaped like a circular disc with plane extensions to support each component of the mechanism. The base plate is attached to the bar at the 'bottom' end such that most of the readout mechanism extends above the track (positioned lengthwise with the bar at the top). The read out wheel is a flat, steel disc that sits above and parallel to the base plate. It rotates around its center which is attached to a support pivot with three small screws. The support pivot is attached to the base plate below. There is a small white roller sitting atop the readout wheel, encased in a steel frame that is attached to the base plate. The frame has two other extensions: a long bar that extends the full diameter of the readout wheel. At the end, it has a rectangular piece of steel that hangs down next to the readout wheel. The second extension from the steel frame drops down at a right angle such that the end sits directly next to the longwise bar on the track. A drawing mechanism can be attached at this end. As the readout wheel slides along the track, the drawing mechanism will record its progress on the surface below, in a straight line along the track.

Curatorial RemarksThe readout wheel has been taken from the Amsler planimeter. Has no accumulating readout (Saul Moskowitz).
The corners of the card attached to the top of the box are gone. However, the same addresses are indicated on the card inside the box so we can fill in the missing letters.
FunctionThe integrator is used for calculating the area of a plane figure. The user traces the figure in question with the tracing arm. The tracing arm communicates motion to the readout wheel mechanism such that it will slide along the track below, drawing a line to record its progress. Once the user has returned to the place where he began the trace, the line will be proportionate to the area of the figure.
