This scale consists of six equally spaced increments. The first increment is further subdivided into ten increments, marked "5" half way and "10" at the end. Each subsequent increment is marked with an engraved numeral beginning with 20 and ending with 60, increasing in tens. The arm marked "4 pouces du roi" has a track cut through it with permitting the hanging of a plumb line.
