DescriptionWhite paper sleeve held together with four brass fasteners, containing a paper slide.
On the face ("PIPE NETWORK CALCULATOR" side) of the sleeve are three horizontal slots through which the slide is visible. Two scales are visible through the top slot. Along the top edge of the slot is a scale for "PIPE SIZE", with values descending from 48'' to 4''. Along the bottom edge of the slot is a scale for " "K" VALUE", with values ranging from .001 to 100. Above the slot, printed on the sleeve, is a scale for " "C" VALUE", carrying values from 30 to 200. Near the 140 mark is a red arrow pointing down. Below the slot is a black arrow pointing up.
Printed on the slide along the top edge of the center slot is a scale for " "A" FACTOR", with values ranging from .02-20,000. Along the bottom edge of the slot is a scale for " "B" FACTOR", with values ranging from .02 to 10,000. Printed on the sleeve just above the slot is a scale for "FLOW / % OF TOTAL", carrying values from 1% to 100%. Below the slot is a second scale for ""FLOW / % OF TOTAL", also carrying values from 1% to 100%.
Printed on the slide along the bottom edge of the bottom slot is a logarithmic "C" scale, with values ranging from 1 to 10. A second logarithmic scale, "D" (values 1 to 10), is printed below this on the sleeve.
On the back ("FRICTION LOSS CALCULATOR" side) of the sleeve are three additional horizontal slots. Through the top slot, one scale printed on the slide is visible. Labeled "VELOCITY / ft./sec." and adjacent to the top edge of the slot, this scale has values ranging from .10 to 10. Printed just above this, on the sleeve, is a scale for "PIPE SIZE", with values ranging from 4'' to 48''.
Printed on the slide along the top and bottom edges of the center slot are scales for "MILLIONS OF GALLONS PER DAY". The top scale has values ranging from .010 to 2.0; the bottom scale has values ranging from .15 to 30. Above the center slot is a scale for "PIPE SIZE", with values ranging from 4'' to 18''. Below the slot is a second scale for "PIPE SIZE", with values ranging from 12'' to 48''.
Printed on the slide along the bottom edge of the bottom slot is a scale for "HEAD LOSS / ft./1000 ft.", with values ascending from .002 to 100. On the sleeve just below the bottom slot is a scale for " "C" VALUE", with values descending from 200 to 30.
Instructions for the slide chart's various operations are printed on both the front and the back of the sleeve.
The slide chart is stored in a folder containing an instruction booklet. the folder is inside a manila envelope.
