      Material
DescriptionAtop a thin rectangular metal base is a small black box, containing a coil. Atop the metal spool for the coil are two brass binding posts, to which bright green coily wires are connected. Half of the coil is surrounded by the poles of one pair of horseshoe magnets, and the other half surrounded by the poles of another. Within each of these pairs, the smaller magnet is nested in the larger. In each pair, a metal I-shaped bar cuts across both arms of both magnets halfway between the round end and the poles (the coil). Both pairs of magnets are screwed together at the poles by a rectangular piece of metal. Finally, both the magnets and the metal piece that connects them are electric (or should I say electro-magnetic) orange.
