The horizontal dial is mounted together with a small magnetic compass in a very thin circular case with push-on lid. The gnomon for the dial is hinged to rotate into the plane of the dial for storage. The chapter ring is marked V-XII-I-VII with 15 minute subdivisions. The gnomon is designed for a latitude of approximately 49°. The compass rose is divided into 8 points marked N, NE, E, SE, S, SO, O, and NO. There is a magnetic declination mark at approximately 20° W of N.,circular
