DescriptionFrom Instrument Card: "Variable Coupling Coils...2 vertical coils, one fixed, and the other rotating and sliding, mounted on a rectangular wood base. The sliding coil is on a rabit. On the base is a metric scale. Two bingding posts are attached to the frame of the sliding coil, while the fixed coil has two binding posts near it on the base."
            Signedunsigned
Inscribedon movable coil: S; on fixed coil: P
FunctionProbably for demonstration of electromagnetic induction. One can vary the distance between the coils.
ProvenanceFrom the Harvard University Physics Department.
Historical AttributesThe blue triangle indicates that it was used for teaching in the Physics 3 course, Physics Department, Harvard University. Card dates the course 1927. From Instrument Card: "Parts taken from commercial apparatus and remounted in Jefferson Shop."
