DescriptionThis aquatic / dissecting microscope is in the style of Robert B. Bate's modification of the Ellis aquatic microscope. A 9.5 cm arm slides into and rotates about a cylindrical post, which is fitted to the top of the instrument case. The arm has a threaded ring at its end to accept a simple lens with or without a lieberkuhn. The post is racked up or down to focus the instrument.

A dovetail bracket at the top of the column receives a ring stage. There is a drop-in Bonanni spring stage to hold slides. Two holes across the bottom of the column accept a concave substage mirror.

The fitted case is covered with sharkskin and lined in green velvet. Accessories include 2 objective lenses with lieberkuhns (one has the dust cap); 4 objectives; 3 ivory slides; stage forceps; brass tweezers; mica cover slips and wire retaining rings in an ivory box; and the aforementioned drop-in spring stage to hold slides.
